National Specialty October 14-18. It was a great trip and
excellent opportunity to meet other members and network.

On Saturday, Ginger took 1st place in
Open bitches, and Anastazja was Reserve Winner.
This is no small accomplishment against the best of the breed and
professional handlers. We are very proud!!
On Thursday, Pups Hershey and Onyx
participated in the Puppy Match. Onyx took Best of Opposite
Puppy and won himself a pink puppy which he loves, a bowl, and a
rawhide treat. He was very proud of himself.

After
many, many false starts, I was finally able to get
my dogs ready for show with a lot of help from my
friends. Karen and Isaiah and I have been training
3 days a week for the last 5-6 months. It has been
exhausting, but this weekend made it all worth it.
The judges were genuinely enthusiastic about our
dogs. It was such a good feeling.
Pete and
Benigne Dohms hosted us for the event. We had
home-made Mexican on Thursday, Cajun shrimp gumbo
and 3 kinds of fish on Friday, and a turkey dinner
on Saturday evening. We shared stories and ideas
for success in future endeavors with our dogs.
Benigne has had Bisia and Olek in obedience,
herding, and rally. Bisia is now participating in
conformation. She has earned her IABCA national and
international titles.
This
weekend made me realize why I never gave up no
matter what adversity I encountered. For anyone
else who might be feeling discouraged, it took me 10
years to accomplish this. Every step of the way was
a challenge. I could never have done it if Shelley
Potter had not believed in me and Karen Nielsen put
herself on the line on my behalf. Isaiah has been a
gift from God. He comes every weekend and works
with the dogs and goes to training with me every
week.
We are
hoping for good things in 2010 below are photos from
our weekend.
